Members of ADIAN teach several courses in masters' degree at University of the Basque Country.
Master in Embedded Systems Engineering
The Official Masters Degree in "Embedded Systems Engineering" (MOISE) has come about due to the collaboration of: the Department of Computer Architecture and Technology of the Faculty of Information Technology ; and the Polytechnic University College of Donostia-San Sebastian. The Masters forms part of the Postgraduate Information and Communications Technology Programme of the University of the Basque Country (Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea). The Masters counts with the collaboration of a number of institutions and companies (G.A.I.A., Ikusi, Ikerlan, Grupo Jema, Traintic, ULMA Embedded Solutions, Fagor, Fatronik, General Electric). An embedded system is a system designed using hardware and software components in one single module for an application. It thus aims to achieve high performance and great flexibility at relatively low costs and moderate consumption. As it is the latest in information technology this type of system is used in many areas: mobile communications or specific control systems (home, automotive, aviation). This type of system usually has to confront real-time problems; in other words, it is often not sufficient that the actions are performed correctly, but they also have to be executed within a set time period. A large part of the effort in RDI in the area of embedded systems is performed in the industries of the aforementioned areas (mobile telephones, electro-domestic, automotive, railways, aeroplanes, etc.) in order to meet their specific requirements in a market with exponential growth.
Master in Advanced Computer Systems
The Master in Advanced Information Systems offers an interdisciplinary master structured in two specialties covering a large part of the research areas in Computer Science. Its basic objective is to guide the student in some of its research lines, maintaining a global vision and allowing a personal setting of the curriculum within the full range of courses. The specialty called Artificial Intelligence and Natural Interaction includes content which fall into the Computer Science and addresses the principles, methods and applications of adaptive systems with intelligent behavior, including intelligent data processing, creation of intelligent systems for various areas, multimodal interaction, artificial perception, automatic classification and data mining. The specialty Distributed Systems and Web includes content which fall into the Information Systems, Information Technology and Software Engineering. It is aimed at generating knowledge about current systems and information technologies and provide skills in developing applications for these systems, including the fundamentals of distributed systems, novel techniques of software engineering and its application, particularly in the Internet field.Upon completion of the Masters in Advanced Information Systems, students will have acquired the skills necessary for a doctoral dissertation in some of the main areas covered by the two specialties. However, given the relevance and importance of the subjects taught, the direct integration of these students into the professional activity in this field is not discarded, thereby responding to the growing need for qualified researchers in the industry.
This is a research-oriented master that can be considered the previous step to doctorate studies.
Master in Computational Engineering and Intelligent Systems
The Master's degree focuses in the research line in computer science and information technologies defined by the research groups that support it, and whose excelence has been acknowledged by the Viceconsejería de Universidades e Investigación del Gobierno Autónomo Vasco. Also, researchers from other institutions (both academic and industrial) take part in this degree and several agreements between the university and external institutions (Tecnalia, IK4, Ikerbasque, BCAM, Vicomtech, ...) provide support to this Master's degree.
According to the professional standards recommended by the Thematic Network European Computing Education and Training, the contents covered in this Master's degree include:
- Advanced mathematics for computer science (scientific computation, cryptography, etc.)
- Intelligent systems (artificial intelligence, data mining, big data, smart control)
- Visualization and multimedia systems (graphics computing, modelling, animation, visualization, virtual reality, creation of images)
- Industrial informatics (automatism, robotics, computer vision, simulation)
- Aplications (bioinformatics, medical informatics, stock market, transportation, etc.)
